Discover Wildflowers This Spring on the Pathways to Wave Rock

Driving into the Wheatbelt this spring is a sight to behold. Golden canola fields stretch across the horizon and the countryside is alive with fresh green growth after a wet winter. All of this sets the perfect stage for what comes next, the burst of colourful wildflowers that transform our landscapes into a living gallery each spring.

What Are Wildflowers in WA’s Wheatbelt?

Each year, following good winter rains, the Wheatbelt woodlands, shrublands, and salt lake systems come alive with a spectacular show of colour and scent. Along the Pathways to Wave Rock drive trail, travellers can discover a rich variety of flora in open woodlands, granite outcrops, sandplains, and even roadside verges. Masses of everlastings in white, pink, and yellow sweep across the countryside, while wattles, hakeas, grevilleas and melaleucas burst into bloom. For those with a keen eye, up to 20 species of orchids may be spotted, alongside unique flowering plants. Including Donkey Orchid (Diuris Corymbosa), Pink Candy Orchid (Caledenia) and the Broom Milkwort (Comesperma Scoparium). Local nature reserves, walk trails, and scenic drives along the Pathways to Wave Rock.
